Established late Summer ’23, the CRSA began a once-weekly singlehanded racing series for our growing Sunfish fleet. Taking place at Jacobson Park Lake in Lexington, KY, the newly minted event saw great participation numbers. This lead to the Sunfish having its own class in the 44th Grand Annual Regatta, a first for the club’s biggest racing event! The club enjoys great annual Sunfish participation in this event.
The Sunfish calendar:
- When weather allows, there is Sunfish ssailing every Tuesday evening from early April to mid-September. In July, the general Sunfish sailing rests for a few weeks while the Youth Sailing Camp takes over the lake.
- First race posts at 6pm, so we suggest getting to the park by 5:30 to get set up and on the water
- Last race posts at varying times through the season; the park closes at dark so we need to be packing up around sunset
- Late Fall dates TBA
Participation is greatly encouraged, beginners and advanced sailors, youth and adults alike! It is key to growing the fleet and the event.
