Sewell Mountain Sailing 2nd. Annual benefit for Hospice

This Event will be known as “Mountain Mama’s Hospice Regatta”

The regatta will take place on September 8th 2012 at Summersville Lake, WV. SMSC is happy to welcome you to the clear and clean waters of the states largest lake. This fun event will be held over two days with awards in all classes. We also plan a 2nd Course for the prams and new sailors of the sport.

Fees: This is a no fee event! You are however, welcome, but not required, to make a donation to Hospice of Southern West Virginia. The amounts, suggested are indicated in the registration comments.

Rules: As defined by the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), except as altered by the race committee or the sailing instructions for the event.

Fleets: A minimum of three boats constitutes a fleet. All other boats will be formed into Portsmouth Handicapped fleets as determined by the race committee and the number of boats registered.

Scoring: We will use the Low Point Scoring System Appendix A as amended here and in the sailing instruction. One race is scheduled (up and back of approximately ten miles).

Prizes/Trophies: Awards will be made presented after the regatta. A first, second and third place will be awarded to each fleet.

Registration: Pre-registration can be made by mail, using personal checks or Pay-Pal. You may also register the morning of the event (September 8th, 2012) before 9:30 AM. A suggested entry donation of $45 for boats with crews of two or more, $40 for single handed boats, and $30 for Junior sailors under 16 (dinghies and prams). In addition, a free Event “T” Shirt will be given to all skippers that register before August 10th. Forms are on the SMSA web site or will be sent directly to you via e-mail.

Sailing Instructions: We will make these available, both on the web site http://www.soapysails.webs.com and at the registration table the morning of the event.

Skippers Meeting: The meeting will be held between the two ramps at Battle Run ramps at 9:00 AM Saturday September 8th. The race is scheduled to start at 10:30 AM or as determined by the RC.

Meals and Raffle: Each boat will receive meal tickets, Skipper and one crew, with additional tickets available. Along with that, you will also receive 2 raffle tickets per boat, with additional tickets available.

Lodging and Restaurants: A list of restaurants, campgrounds, and motels are available on the SMSC web site.
