2013 Chesapeake Bay Cruises

Upper Chesapeke Bay Cruise

May 24-28, 2013

Thiis cruise will begin and end in Annapoolis, MD.  We have reserved 3 sail boats,each equipped with 3 cabins, 2 heads and AC.  The boats range in length from 39' to 46'.

In addition, Brad Leslie has agreed to donate the use of his boat.

Captains include Dave Davison, Dan Geiger, and Brad Leslie.  One additional captain is needed.

May 24 and 28 are travel days.  We plan to sail May 25-27.  Crew can arrange car pools on their own.  We can sleep aboard at Annapolis the nights of May 24 and 27.

We will be docked at marinas each night, including the spectculat Baltimore Inner Harbor.

Cabin preference will be determined by the captains, but will be based on earliest resrevation.

The estimated cost of the crusie is $620 per person, double occupancy plus boat provisions.  Final cost may vary depending on the crew total.

Lower Chesapeake Bay Cruise

September 27-October 1, 2013

This cruise will begin and end near Deltaville, MD. The cruise leader is Al Lawton who has donated the use of his boat for the cruise.

September 27 and October 1 are travel days. We will sail the Bay on Al's boat and charter boats from September 28-30. We will sleep aboard the first and last nights. The first night will be at a marina at Tangier Island, one of the most unusual destinations in the Eastern U.S. The second night will be at anchor at a beautiful location to be determined later.

The cost of the cruise is estimated to be $600 per person, but may vary based on the number attending. To make a reservation, send a deposit check of $250 made out to CRSA and send it to Al at 3236 Tates Creek Road, Lexington, KY 40502.

Note- The cost of this cruise does not include any compensation or payment to any of our volunteer member captains.

Join CRSA at America’s Cup this Fall (2013)

Golden Gat Bridge

Join your friends and fellow sailors on a unique CRSA experience next September aboard sailboat and near the finish line under the Golden Gate Bridge for the 34th Americas Cup race.

As of March 7th we have 15 of 15 participants. We have two members on the waiting list.

Itinerary:

Arrive Sunday Sept 15th: Sausalito – board sailboat, dinner @ Le Garage

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Sail SF Bay – Watch Cup racing from the rail of our chartered boats.

Thursday Sept 19th: Check into Fisherman’s Wharf Hilton: Visit America’s Cup Pavilion, Watch Racing from Golden Gate Yacht Club quay.

Friday Sept 20th: Tour Fisherman’s Wharf area, Explore downtown San Francisco, Group dinner

Saturday Sept 21th: Depart for home.

 

 

Cost is $1,100 per person based on double occupancy on board and at the hotel. The cost includes sailing charter (live aboard) through Modern Sailing School and hotel accommodations at the Fisherman’s Wharf Hilton.

We have only three charter boats available at this time.  We expect that we can accommodate approximately 15 club members on this trip.  Boats have been chartered and hotel rooms booked.

Note: cost of this trip covers boat berthing for captains.  This trip is scheduled during the 2nd final week of the Cup race.  There is a possibility that the competition will be over at the time of our arrival or during our stay.  The trip will go regardless of race status.

CROATIA CRUISE

SEPTEMBER 1-8, 2013

 

Croatia is located on the Mediterranean, on the east side of Adriatic Sea east of Italy. We will be on a Sun Sail flotilla based out of Dubrovnik and sailing the Croatian Riviera, also known as the Dalmatian Coast.

The cruse itinerary is island hopping. Please see the Sun Sail web site, Ruza Flotilla for more information.

A flotilla consists of a group of boats traveling together with a lead boat provided by Sun Sail. The lead boat is staffed with a multilingual Captain, Engineer (mechanic), and Social Director. Sun Sail provides repairs, beach parties, BBQ's and shore tour advice.

Captains include Dan Geiger and Mark Arnold.

The preliminary estimate of the cost of the cruise is $1300 per person. Final cost may vary depending on the number of sailors. Additional costs will be air fare to Croatia, and meals. CHESAPEAKE BAY CRUISE: October 12-16, 2012

This cruise will begin and end at Deltaville, Virginia and explore the southern Chesapeake Bay.

Brad and Donna Leslie have generously agreed to share their boat for the cruise and we have chartered a 41' Hunter  "Audacia" from Norton Yacht Charter in Deltaville.

Details of the cruise are as follows:

Cost- $475 per person.  To secure your reservation on the cruise, please send a check made out to CRSA to Dan Geiger.  Available openings will be assigned based on the date your check is received.  If both boats are filled, we will attempt to charter additional boats, if possible.

The cruise fee may vary, depending on the final number of sailors.

Cabin assignments will  be made by the Captain  based on pairing persons who wish to bunk together.  Cabin preference will be assigned based on the date your check is received.

The trip cost covers the charter fee, fuel, dock charges, and insurance.  Travel to and from Deltaville will be the responsibility of each sailor. Each Captain will ask the crew to contribute to a boat fund to cover food and other shared items.

 

Schedule:

Friday, October 12- Travel to Deltaville, sleep aboard

Saturday, October 13 thru Monday, October 15- Cruise the Bay

Monday night, October 15- Sleep aboard

Tuesday, October 16- Travel home.

 

While not part of this cruise, there are two very large boat shows near Deltaville at Annapolis, MD prior to the trip.  The United States Sailboat Show is October 4-8 and the United States Powerboat Show is October 11-14. Both shows are the oldest and largest new in-water boat shows in the world.

Apostles Islands Cruise July 2 - 5

The CRSA is planning a summer cruising trip to the Apostles Islands, in Lake Superior off the coast of Wisconsin. This is a beautiful national park comprised of 22 islands, with hiking, historical sights, sea caves, and of course, fabulous sailing! Shore life can be found in the cool, little town of Bayfield, WI.

Currently we have a 36’ boat, 3-cabin, 1-head boat chartered. The schedule is: Arrive in Bayfield the evening of Sunday, July 1, sleep on board. Sail July 2-5. Return to Bayfield evening of Thursday, July 5. Sleep on boat. Depart morning of July 6.

We need additional crew for the charter boat. The cost of the charter per person will be $750 (4 people) to $450 (7 people) plus $100 for food, fuel, dock fees, etc. THE DEADLINE IS FAST APPROACHING and we need deposit money now.

Other CRSA members will be trailering their own boats.
