ASA-103 Basic Keelboat Sailing - Wave 1 - Instructs the skills to demonstrate skippering a sloop-rigged keelboat of approximately 25-35 feet length by day in moderate winds up to 20 knots and sea conditions. Course includes nomenclature, basic boat systems, auxiliary engine operation, docking procedures, intermediate sail trim, navigation rules, basic coastal navigation, anchoring, weather interpretation, safety & seamanship.
Who - The course is open to 2015 CRSA members desiring to learn basic keelboat operations. There are pre-requisite courses is ASA-101.
Where – Our initial introductory classroom session will be at the Lake’s Edge Clubhouse in Lexington, KY. The two day on the water instruction will be on Kentucky Lake or other suitable body of water.
When - Classroom session is on Tuesday, March 3rd. The two day sailing instruction will be coordinated with your assigned instructor.
How - First step is registration. First priority is accommodate registrants from prior years and then on a first come, first serve basis. The classroom will allow distribution of materials, instructor assignments, study tips, and allow more on-the-water focus on sailing. If work, geographic, etc. precludes classroom participation, please contact us or other alternatives.
